Pilgrimage Church of Wies
If you have never been to Wies before you may wonder why such a grandiose church was built in such an out-of-the-way place.
It is said that the tears of the 'scourged Redeemer' were the bricks from which this precious world famous rococo jewel was built. It became a place of worship in the 18th century, known throughout Europe as a fine example of baroque style architecture.
Today Wies draws from both these sources of richness - spiritual and artistic. A place of pilgrimage, prayer and worship.
